Skin Tags
- Average Price: €90 – €250
- Removal Method: Cryotherapy (freezing), electrocautery (burning) or shave excision.
Warts & Verrucas
- Average Price: €150 – €500
- Removal Method: Cryotherapy or minor surgical excision.
- Important Note: Simple surface freezing is on the lower end of the scale, while deep or widespread warts requiring surgical scraping cost more.
Moles
- Average Price: €350 – €500
- Removal Method: Surgical excision or shave biopsy.
- Important Note: Laboratory analysis (histology) is almost always mandatory for moles to ensure they are completely benign, which may add to the cost.
Epidermoid & Sebaceous Cysts
- Average Price: €450 – €500
- Removal Method: Full surgical excision down to the sac.
- Important Note: These require local anaesthetic and stitches to prevent them from growing back. Removing additional cysts in the same session usually costs an extra €150–€250 each.
Lipomas
- Average Price: €550 – €800+
- Removal Method: Surgical excision.
- Important Note: Pricing is highly dependent on size. Small fatty lumps under 4cm usually start around €550, while deeper or larger lipomas can exceed €850.
Eye Area Procedures
Meibomian Cysts (Chalazia)
- Average Private Fee: €200 – €300 for surgical clearing (plus an initial specialist consultation fee typically around €200)
- Typical Method: Incision and Curettage (I&C). The eye doctor or ophthalmologist numbs the area, clamps the eyelid, and drains the blocked oil gland from the inside surface of the lid to avoid external scarring.
- Clinical Note: Early-stage or smaller bumps might resolve with a cheaper steroid injection instead. Major private health insurers like Vhi or Laya Healthcare often fully or partially cover surgical chalazion extraction.
Tear Duct Flushing (Probing & Irrigation)
- Average Private Fee: €250 – €450 (frequently packaged as part of a specialized watery eye or dry eye assessment).
- Typical Method: A tiny, fluid-carrying tube is passed into the drainage puncta of your eyelids to flush sterile saline through the system and clear out soft debris.
- Clinical Note: This acts primarily as a diagnostic tool to check if a watering eye is caused by a minor blockage or a deep structural problem. If the duct is completely structurally blocked, you may face hospital surgery (DCR) which costs upwards of €1,500+ out-of-pocket if not covered by insurance.
Other Minor Procedures
Steroid Injections
- Average Fee: €80 – €150.
- What it does: Relieves severe pain and swelling in joints, fingers, or heels.
- Insurance: Usually covered or heavily subsidised by major providers like Vhi and Laya.
Ingrowing Toenails
- Average Fee: €350 – €450 for a full surgical package.
- What it does: Permanently removes the piercing nail edge under local numbing.
- Insurance: Frequently eligible for a partial refund or direct-settlement discount.
Subcision for Acne Scarring
- Average Fee: €250 – €350 per session.
- What it does: Uses a specialized needle to cut the deep, rigid bands that pull down acne scars.
- Insurance: Not covered, as it is classified as a purely cosmetic treatment.
